Chief Master Sergeant (ret) Al Thompson is an Air Force Junior ROTC Instructor assigned to Aiea High School near Honolulu, Hawaii. His last active duty assignment was Superintendent, 66thAir Base Group, Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusetts.  Before arriving here, he taught AFJROTC at Kathleen High School/Central Florida Aerospace Academy for six years where he helped lead and mentor 400 Cadets annually.  Chief Thompson grew up in Columbus, Mississippi and graduated from high school, with honors, in May 1985.  He enlisted in the Air Force in September 1985 as a Police Officer (Security Policeman).  He is a graduate of the Drug Abuse Resistance Education Instructor Course, Ground Combat Skills Command Course, and the Anti-terrorism Level II Course.  He has also completed the Air Force’s Academic Instructor School; NCO Academy Instructor Course; and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Security Engineering Course.

 

Chief Thompson retired in 2011 after serving 26 years in the law enforcement and education & training arenas.  He is a 2008 graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.  The Chief holds an Assistant Principal certification in the state of Florida. He has a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice, and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership.  He also has both a Florida and a Hawaii teaching license in CTE and Marketing, grades 6-12.   Chief Thompson has one daughter and one granddaughter.  He enjoys boating, fishing, and riding his motorcycle.
